Patricia Gianotti, Psy.D. —Academic Director of The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy at Loyola University Chicago

Are you tired of CEU course offerings that barely break the surface of training proficiency? Would you like to deepen your clinical skills but can’t spare the time or expense required to go back to graduate school? Do you wish you could participate in a consultation group that reviews case material on a regular basis?

The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Loyola University Chicago offers licensed professionals a yearlong immersion in cutting-edge training in an interactive, collegial environment. Whether you are a recently licensed professional or you have been in practice for decades, our certificate program is designed to refresh, renew, and deepen your confidence and expertise as a clinician.

Our integrative method of training emphasizes practical application through the instruction of skill-building techniques and case examples that draw upon recent advances in trauma and neuropsychological research. We anchor these contributions in a grounded understanding of attachment theory and incorporate these frameworks into a “refreshed” psychodynamic approach to the treatment of adults, couples, and adolescents.

The onsite residency portion of the program offers participants exposure to nationally acclaimed faculty who provide students with didactic and “hands-on” training, through a combination of lecture, practice application, videotaped case illustration, and group discussion, all of which provide a lively and rigorous learning environment.

Each onsite residency lasts for three full days, spaced throughout the year, located on the Loyola Watertower Campus. After each three-day residency, participants return to their regular clinical settings, where the distance-learning portion of the program will continue throughout the year.

The distance-learning structure includes (3) 90-minute case consultation meetings a month. Clinician trainees will have the opportunity to present case examples from their practice settings as a way of integrating classroom material with daily clinical challenges, thereby increasing clinical proficiency and confidence. In addition (6) live webinars will be offered on key practice issues. These three-hour, interactive webinars occur every other month and are spaced throughout the yearlong program.

The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Loyola University Chicago is approved for CEU Credit through the APA and NASW. A total of 72 credit hours will be awarded for most of these organizations.

Scholarships & payment plans are available. For pricing, schedules and the admissions process, please contact Institute Administrator Katelyn Tippett at 502.479.4616.
